We Shall Overcome

Well this has definitely been a week to say the least. I am ecstatic the weekend is here and I am able to relax and close the book on this week's chapter. There were many challenges and my faith encountered numerous attacks. By the grace of God, and his perfect faithfulness I was able to endure. I can honestly say that God's spirit was personally present this week as he provided me the courage to confront those obstacles that were in my way. Fear is something I struggled with this week. Fear of the mistakes of my past, and fear of the events to come in the future. In the midst of hardship I found a renewed faith and spirit.  Through this test, God allowed me to really stand firm on his promises of forgiveness, reconciliation, and a personal relationship through Christ.  The storm clears and there is finally sunshine with the former dirt and grime washed clean. There is no need of rehashing past events or worrying about the future.  As the apostle Paul writes "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus ~ Phillipians 3:13-14.

I guess an appropriate theme song for this week is the old negro spiritual "We shall Overcome".  We will overcome our fears only through our faith in a sovereign and omnipresent God. One who knows the issues of our hearts and intervenes on our behalf.  God certainly intervened this week as he guided me through treacherous waters.
